Meet the Candidates: Jesse Chinn, Republican candidate for 2nd District Magistrate

In News, Opinion by OC Monitor Staff

Jesse Chinn

My name is Jesse Chinn, and I am running for magistrate in the 2nd district of Ohio County.

The 2nd district of Ohio County has always been my home to my family and me. I was raised on a small family farm, working alongside my family growing crops and raising cattle. It was there that I learned firsthand the meaning of hard work and discipline.

I graduated from Ohio County High School in 2019. Soon after, I attended Madisonville Community College’s lineman program. I was fortunate to get hired on at Kenergy, which is a local cooperative that serves roughly the northern half of Ohio County and the surrounding areas. Over the past few years, I have also invested in real estate in Ohio County on a small scale, whether it be renovating homes or providing rental housing.

Between the farm and real estate, I am no stranger to hard work, sacrifice, risk, and negotiation. My wife, Briley, and I have been married since October 2024, and we are expecting our first child in July.

If elected, I will be a strong, dependable voice for the people of the 2nd district. Availability, transparency, and integrity are key components to what a magistrate should be, and I am confident in my ability to live up to those standards.

I decided to run for this position because I feel this election in Ohio County is too important for me to sit on the sidelines. I learned at an early age that if you see something that needs fixing, and you have the ability to do it, then it is your job to make it happen. I will approach every decision with a people-first mindset, ensuring that each side has been evaluated diligently.

Together, we can work towards a safer, more prosperous community that we can all be proud of.

I humbly ask for your vote on May 19 for me, Jesse Chinn, to be your next magistrate in the 2nd district of Ohio County.
