The open house will celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

Learning to Letter @ Ohio County Artist Guild House

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Ohio County Artist Guild will offer Ohio Countians the chance to put down the keyboard and take up the pen with Learning to Letter.

With Learning to Letter, participants will be learn basic strokes necessary to build the modern calligraphy letters you are seeing everywhere. Those attending will receive handouts with practice guides, induction on how letters are formed and samples of paper suitable for practicing lettering. Each person will receive their own pen to keep and use.

Learning to Letter begins at 6 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Ohio County Artist Guild House. Terri Minton will be the instructor. The class will cost $25, prepaid to the Ohio County Artist Guild.

Pre-registration is required so enough materials are available.

The Ohio County Artist Guild House is at 101 N. Main St. in Beaver Dam, formerly the old Hotel Tilford.

HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Courthouse Players have announced its next production will be “Foxfire.” Performances will begin Sept. 29.

Annie Nations is on the porch, doing her chores, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia. She’s anticipating a visit from her son, Dillard.

Annie and her husband, Hector, built Stony Lonesome, their quiet homestead, but Dillard long ago rejected the idea of being a farmer like his father. Much to Hector’s chagrin, he makes his living as a country singer and has only a small family who rarely come to visit.

Watch the drama unfold as Annie contemplates selling her beloved homestead, while reflecting on all the memories which fill her heart.

Don’t miss this marvelous production. Make reservations today.

Performance dates are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 5, 6 and 7 and at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1.
