Residents warned about scam calls from Green River District Health Dept.

In Local, News by OC Monitor Staff

OWENSBORO, Ky. — The Green River District Health Department urges community members to be vigilant following reports of scam telephone calls. These calls, made to appear as though originating from our Henderson County Health Center, are misleading residents into setting up appointments to change their Medicare plans.

The GRDHD does not solicit such information over the phone. The only phone calls made by GRDHD will strictly pertain to its services and nothing beyond that scope.

Identifying Suspicious Calls:

The caller may claim to be from the Green River District Health Department or the Henderson County Health Department, asking for personal information or discussing Medicare plans. The phone number displayed may mimic that of the Henderson County Health Center, making the call seem legitimate.

What You Should Do:

  1. Verify: If you receive a call that raises suspicion or you’re unsure if you are speaking to a GRDHD employee, please do not hesitate to terminate the call.
  2. Confirm: You can ensure the legitimacy of the communication by directly contacting the Henderson County Health Center at 270-827-3951.
  3. Report: Share any details of the suspicious call with the appropriate authorities to help prevent further scams.

GRDHD’s Commitment:

The GRDHD is dedicated to serving the health needs of our community and is disheartened by these deceptive tactics that misuse its trusted name. The GRDHD would never advise or inquire about changing your Medicare plan through unsolicited calls.

The GRDHD is working with the appropriate authorities to investigate these incidents and take all available actions to protect our residents.
