GRDHD reports 300 new COVID-19 cases; 22 new cases in Ohio County

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous week, it had investigated 300 new COVID-19 infections; 132 in Daviess County, eight in Hancock County, 93 in Henderson County, 16 in McLean County, 22 in Ohio County, 10 in Union County, and 19 in Webster County.

There were no COVID-19-related deaths reported in the previous week.

The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 42.9 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between Dec. 26, 2022-Jan. 1, 2023.

The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as medium for Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union Counties, and low for Webster County. In addition to confirmed COVID-19 cases, flu and other respiratory illnesses remain widespread in all areas.

GRDHD encourages all its residents to:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Get vaccinated for flu.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water.
  • Talk to your doctor about wearing a mask if you are at high risk for severe illness.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Anyone with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.
