ST. JOHN, Ind. — Henry Chester Peach, of St. John, Indiana, 93, passed away peacefully on Nov. 28, 2022. He was born to Henry Jackson Peach and Mary Eliza Peach on Aug. 30, 1929, in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

Henry retired from the CSX Railroad in 1990 after 40+ years of service. He lived and raised his children in northwest Indiana. Upon his retirement, he built a home on his boyhood farm in Narrows, Kentucky. He lived there happily until 2010, moving due to his wife Cornelia’s failing health and the death of his son, Cary. The last years of his life he lived in St. John, Indiana, near his daughter, Patricia. His heart was always in Kentucky. That’s where he longed to be and now his final earthly resting place is in Hartford, Kentucky.

He enjoyed bluegrass music and good music of any kind and of course, he always looked forward to going to the Barn in Rosine, Kentucky.

On his passing, Henry was the oldest member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Olaton, Kentucky. He was proud of that and mentioned it often.

Preceded in death by his father, Henry “Jack” Peach; mother, Mary (Gray) Peach; loving wife of 63 years, Cornelia (Westerfield) Peach; and cherished son, Cary Wayne Peach.

Henry is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Larry) Brister, of St. John; granddaughters, Stacia (Rick) Steepleton, of Griffith, Indiana, Tricia (Craig) Felty, of New Palestine, Indiana, Lori (Mike) Deemer, of Greenfield, Indiana; and 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Ballard) Lewis, of Rensselaer, Indiana, and his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at The Hartford Memorial Funeral Chapel in Hartford with Pastor David Embry officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday and again from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Hartford Memorial Funeral Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Peach.
