James ‘Cut’ Whitaker

MORGANTOWN, Ky. — James “Cut” Whitaker, 79, of Morgantown, Passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Morgantown Care and Rehab. James was born March 23, 1939, in Butler County, Kentucky, to the late Leo and Eula Mae Moore Whitaker.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and the Butler County Fox Hunters Club.

James loved fox-hunting, playing guitar, singing, attending church, and was a good Christian man.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lynn Whitaker, and one great-granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Mason.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith Whitaker, of Morgantown; one son, Barry Whitaker (Kathy), of Morgantown; one daughter, Beth Ann Wilson, of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Jennifer Harris, (Jimmy), of Morgantown, Everett Mason (Tara), of Morgantown, Kyle Whitaker (Sherry), of Morgantown, Cody Whitaker (Cortney), of Horse Branch, Kentucky, and Sydney Wilson Zanolini (Jeremy), of Fayettville, North Carolina; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrel Whitaker, of Morgantown, and Timmy Whitaker (Corkie), of Morgantown; one sister, Gaye Smith (Frankie), of Horse Branch; one aunt, Violet Allen, of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, Aug. 6, at 12 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Gene Garner and Bro. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery with Bobby Amos, Everett Mason, Kyle and Cody Whitaker, Justin and Jimmy Harris and Dale Havens serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Jones Funeral chapel from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 12 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.
