BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Tommy Lee Hughes, 67, died Nov. 19, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his four girls, his grandson, and his aunt, after a short battle with cancer.
Tommy served in the U.S. Navy, worked in the underground coal mines for over 25 years and retired from AK Steel after 17 years.
He enjoyed playing the guitar to entertain his family and friends, spoiling his four girls, working in his yard and spending time with his grandson. He was always happy to lend a hand to his neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Watson; son, Bryan Hughes; sister, Carolyn Sue Hardin; and brother, Jack Kirk.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Hughes; daughter, Andrea Kirk; four grandchildren, Paige, Bry, Matthew, and Josh Kirk; brothers, Robert Kirk and Willis Watson; half-sister, Sandra Ward.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam are in charge of arrangements.
