OWENSBORO, Ky. — Clarence L. Young, 92, of Owensboro, died Nov. 12, 2017, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on Feb. 5, 1925, in Booneville, Kentucky, to the late Palmer and Sadie Leggitt.

He retired after 30 years of employment with Western Kentucky Gas Company, and had been employed by Owensboro Transit System and Owensboro School System as a bus driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved working and riding on his tractor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ora Dean Howard Young, on Aug. 13, 2011; by a daughter, Judy Young; and by a grandson, Keith Young.

He is survived by his daughters, Marlene Blair and Lynn Saffran (Mark); his faithful companion, his dog, Kayla; grandchildren, Richard Texas (Jenny), Doug Masterson, Jada Blair, Jason Blair, Sarah Saffran and Katie Turner (Steve); eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Hunt.

Services are 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro with Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Private burial is in Bells Run Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
