HARTFORD, Ky. — Marie Himes Ellis, 87, of Hartford, passed away, Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1929, to the late Ed and Florence Croxton Himes in Ohio County.

She was a member of Woodwards Valley Baptist Church in Ohio County and a former line worker for General Electric. Mrs. Ellis enjoyed going to the Rosine Barn, going to visit with friends at McDonald’s and at the nursing home.

Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth “Shorty” Ellis; son, Jimmy Ellis; brothers, George Himes, Owen Himes, Gene Himes, and Ray Himes; and sisters, Lorene St. Clair, and Ernestine Kirk.

Survivors include five children, Mary Jo Cook, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Joyce (Tom) Bosse, of Glasgow, Kentucky, George Ellis, of Hartford, Janet (Tim) Johnson, of Morgantown, Kentucky, and June (Mark) Turner, of Livermore, Kentucky; and a sister, Mary (Imon) Ballard, of Hartford. Mrs. Ellis was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Leslie) Turner, Hannah Turner, Alexa Woosman, Brice Cook, Evan Cook, Brette (Zack) Smith, Trevor Bosse, Trent Bosse, Trey Bosse, Carissa (Kyle) Poston, and Derek (Ali) Johnson, and four great grandchildren, Madelon Woosman, Jack Turner, Ellis Johnson, and, Makenlei Skaggs. Several nieces and nephews along with many friends also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Bro. David Isbell officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Family and friends may visit with the family of Marie Ellis from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
