LEXINGTON, Ky. — Helen M. Stevens, 100, formerly of Ohio County, Kentucky, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Dundee, Kentucky, to the late Otis and Essie Crawford Stevens.

Miss Stevens was a State Specialist in Family Economics and Home Management with the University of Kentucky. She had been Assistant Professor of Home Management and Family Economics, Director of Home Management Laboratories and Acting Chairman Department of Home Economics, Middle Tennessee State University.

Miss Stevens had also been an Extension Agent in Morganfield, Kentucky, and elementary teacher in Ohio County.

She was an active member of AHEA and KHEA, having served as state President plus many other professional positions. Her other membership activities include Omicron Nu, Kappa Omicron Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, Epsilon Sigma Phi, AAUW and EWRT.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Stevens Cashman.

Survivors include a niece, Carol (Glenn) Gilbert, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a great-niece, Jessica Martine Gilbert; a great-nephew, Taylor (Jamie) Gilbert; great-great-niece, Charlotte Laine Gilbert.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
