ROUNDHILL, Ky. — Maxine Cardwell, 88, of Roundhill, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Maxine was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Butler County, Ky., to the late B.R. and Dovie Lindsey Childress and wife of the late Tildon “T” Cardwell.

She was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a farmer, and housewife.

Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one son, Tildon Cardwell Jr.; two daughters Sarah and Sally Cardwell; and one brother, Buster Childress.

Maxine Cardwell is survived by three daughters, Betty Westerfield (Gerald), of Cromwell, Ky., Jean Ray, of Roundhill, and Melissa Mills (Gary), of Roundhill; three sons, James Cardwell (Judi), of Roundhill, Johnny Cardwell, of Roundhill, and Ron Cardwell, of Roundhill; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Effie Mae Bratcher, of Roundhill, Betty Lou Casey, of Morgantown, Ky., and Beatrice Casey, of Morgantown; and two brothers, Harold and Alton Childress, of Morgantown.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday June 1, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Ron Metheny officiating. Burial will be in the Threlkel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
