MACEO, Ky. — Hubert Owen Bruington Sr., 88, of Maceo, went to be with his Lord Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Breckinridge County, Ky., on Aug. 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Glenn and Anna Butler Bruington.

Mr. Bruington was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather to nine children, 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild with three great-great-grandchildren on the way.

He was a member of Southside Wesleyan Church, a retired Union Carpenter, and a member of the Daviess County Fish and Game. Mr. Bruington lived on Carpenter’s Lake with his wife for over 50 years where they enjoyed hosting family gatherings and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Glenita Quarles Bruington, in 2013; a sister, Janet Sharp; a brother, James Bruington Sr.; six infant siblings; a grandson, Jason Kellems; and a son-in-law, Ricky Payne.

Surviving are children, Hubert (Jan) Bruington Jr., of Moseley, Va., Molly Bruington, of Georgia, Judy (Jim) Roberts, of Hartford, Ky., Debbie (Rev. Carl) Vanover, of Owensboro, Ky., Steve Bruington, of Maceo, Sheila Garcia (Gasper), of Nashville, Tenn., Sharon Payne, of Masonville, Ky., Cathy Cotton (Lee Taylor), of Owensboro, and Karen (Ricky) Cotton, of Yelvington, Ky.; sisters, Ruth Woolridge, Alice Smith (Jerry), and Martha Alexander (Donnie), all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Carl Vanover officiating. Burial will be in Harned Cemetery in Hardinsburg with Rev. Don Bruington officiating at the graveside. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
