OWENSBORO, Ky. — Rickey LaVern Carlisle, 61, of Owensboro, was called from his earthly home here on earth to his heavenly home that God has prepared for him on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1956, in Daviess County, Ky., to the late Shelby Carlisle and Flossie Carlisle Rice.

He was a graduate of Owensboro High School and attended Audubon Nazarene Church. He was employed as a Millwright for Austin Industries in Safety Control for 21 years at Kimberly Clark, where he made many friends.

Mr. Carlisle was a big man with a big heart and was loved by many, not only his family, but many of his neighbors and those he worked with. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren which were his sunshine.

He also enjoyed fishing, watching UK basketball games and helping people whenever he could.

He also is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Freddie, and Keith Carlisle; his sister, Shannon Carlisle Reynolds; stepfather, Bill Rice; brother-in-law, Ron Vaughn; sister-in-law, Charlotte Farley; and father-in-law, Richard Crabtree.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Gail Crabtree Carlisle; children, Misty (Stephen) Bratcher, Bradley (Leslie Page) Carlisle; grandchildren, Shelbeigh and Hunter Bratcher, and Kelsey and Sydney Carlisle; his very special brothers, Jack (Carolyn), Wayne (Mary Rose), and Steve (Sonia); sisters, Floetta Vaughn, Sandra (Ron) Sandefur, Elaine (Mike) Thompson, Bonnie (Dale) Bowlds, and Kristina (Josh) McCoy; sisters-in-law, Mary, Rexie, Connie Carlisle, and Robin Crabtree; 32 nieces and nephews; five uncles and aunts; his long-time special friend, Kenny Bowlds, whom he loved like a brother. A very special sister, Bonnie and her husband, Dale Bowlds, who were his rock throughout his illness.

Rickey will be missed and loved by his family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Friday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Doug Grant officiating and burial to follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and after 8 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
