VirginiaGivensVirginia Dean Givens, 82, of Rockport, Ky., passed away peacefully, Monday, March 25, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 2, 1930, in Allen County, Ky., to the late Hilry and Cora Crawford Steenbergen. She was a member of Rockport Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James E. “Fat” Givens.

Survivors include three sons, Roger “Catfish” Givens and wife Charlotte of Nelson Creek, David Joe Givens of Echols and Kenneth Givens and wife Becky of Nashville; one brother, Paul Steenbergen of Leitchfield; one sister, Anna Wilson of Russellville; four grandchildren, Nathan Givens and wife Donna, J.J. Givens and wife Christy, Brandon Givens and wife Chezna and Rachael Jacobs, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Recie Young officiating. Burial will be in Echols Cemetery in Echols. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
