FORDSVILLE, Ky. — James Dewayne Bratcher “Jimmy,” 65, of Fordsville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Oct. 1, 2026. He was born May 13, 1961, to the late Marilyn Joyce Bratcher.

When cancer came, he fought. He fought through the hard days, the uncertainty and everything this terrible disease asked of him. He never gave up easily. Even when the road became difficult, he continued to show the resilience that defined him.

His family takes comfort in knowing that his suffering is over and that his fight is finished. If love could keep him here, he’d stay forever, but he’s not ours, he belongs to Jesus Christ.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Robert Carden; and grandparents, Margaret & WB Bratcher.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee Bratcher; children, Jason (Katie) Bratcher, Leslie Rose, Jamie (Scott Hayes), Ashley Bratcher, Tabitha Bratcher, Eric (Kasandra) Bratcher, Matthew (Emily) Bratcher, and Wyatt Bratcher; bonus children, Robert and Catelyn; grandchildren, Watson Bratcher, Ashton (Lacey) Rose, Kylie (Levi) Rose, Trenton, Kamryn, Waylon, Layla, Laiklyn, Trevin, Kailyn, Lola, Keegan, Adalyn, Aiden, Lyra, Barrett, Tellson, Tames, Wilder, Gibson, Ava, Parker, and Theodore; brothers, Tony (Tammy) Bratcher, Denis Bellamy, Ricky Bellamy, Ricky Carden, Danny (Winter) Carden, Mag Moxley, and Ricky (Joyce) Bratcher-who was more like a brother to Jimmy rather than his uncle; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Bratcher Family Cemetery in Fordsville.
