WHITESVILLE, Ky. — Matthew Ray Morgan, 62, of Whitesville, passed away Sept. 17, 2026. He was born in Greenville, Kentucky, on Dec. 28, 1963, to Lyndell and Daisy Grace Morgan.
Matthew grew up during a time when autism was not recognized, understood, or diagnosed. Though he faced challenges throughout his life, he was highly intelligent and went on to have a successful career as an electrician for the State of Kentucky before retiring. He enjoyed playing cards, board games, and computer games. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and playing football, and his teammates from OCHS football always held a special place in his heart. Family was important to Matthew, and he especially looked forward to attending family reunions. Matthew had a generous heart and was always willing to help someone in need. He genuinely cared for people, even though the challenges associated with autism sometimes made social situations and fitting in difficult for him. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, generosity, and the love he had for others.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Lyndell Morgan and his niece, Kaytlin Morgan.
He leaves behind his mother, Daisy Grace Morgan; brothers, Adam Morgan and Anthony Morgan; sister-in-law, Christi Morgan; nieces, Alicia Morgan and Hannah Morgan; nephew, Connor Morgan, grand-nephews, Wiley Morgan and LJ Morgan; along with a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at 12 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Clyde Shaffer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to an autism foundation of your choice. No one should have to go through the challenges that Matthew faced with autism.
