HARTFORD – Larry B. Allen, 79, of Hartford, passed away Sept. 6, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on Dec. 24, 1946, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Buford and Susie Barnett Allen.
Larry was a retired car salesman. He worked for many different dealerships in Kentucky and Illinois throughout his career. He was a proud Kentucky Colonel.
He loved farming and spending time on his small farm whether it be riding his tractor to bushhog or anything else that needed tending. He had a passion for restoring historic vehicles and was very talented in doing so.
Larry was a generous man who gave help freely to anyone who needed it. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Allen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Sarah “Faye” Goatee Allen; children, Tracy Jenkins and Sonya Everly; grandchildren, Sarah, Amy, Jessica, Spencer, and Cheryl; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Erica, Ella, Avery, Brooklyn, Jake, Anna, Jaden, Kimberly, Cheyenne, Kennedy, Lola, Oliver and Jack; great-great grandchildren, Rosalie and Taitly; and brother, Ron Allen.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. at Simplicity Church at Ohio County Community Center, 130 E. Washington Street, Hartford, KY 42347 with Bro. Paul Ralph presiding. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
