FRANKFORT, Ky. — Team Kentucky’s Stop Scams site has issued a warning to Kentucky residents about a new scam circulating across the state.
According to Stop Scams, scammers are soliciting personal information by impersonating the U.S. Department of Labor. They send a letter stating that you have been awarded grant money you did not apply for and that they need additional information before giving you the money.
If you receive one of these letters, do not contact the scammer or send personal information. Report fraud using the DOL hotline at 1-800-347-3756 or fill out their online form at oig.dol.gov/hotlinecontact.htm.
Visit StopScams.ky.gov to learn more and see a copy of the fake letter.
