HARTFORD, KY – Agape Love Women’s Refuge invites Ohio County to toss for a cause at the upcoming Anchored in Hope Cornhole Classic. The family-friendly fundraising event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the parking lot or, if it rains, in the gym of New Assembly Church, at 423 KY 1543 in Hartford.
All proceeds from the tournament directly benefit Agape Love Women’s Refuge, an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Hartford. The sanctuary provides emergency shelter, trauma recovery, clothing, food, and vital case management services to local women navigating crisis and rebuilding their lives.
To maximize the community’s impact, Modern Woodmen of America will match the net proceeds raised at the event up to $2,500 through its Fraternal Matching Fund Program. Every registration fee, spectator ticket, and concession purchase will effectively be doubled to fund local shelter operations.
“Our goal is to bring Ohio County together for a fun, competitive day that directly impacts the vulnerable women we serve,” said Kayla Jo Smith, Founder and Program Director at Agape Love Women’s Refuge. “With Modern Woodmen matching our community’s generosity dollar-for-dollar, we have an incredible opportunity to secure vital funding for our emergency sanctuary services.”
The double-elimination tournament is open to players of all skill levels. Registration is $50 per two-person team. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the gate for spectator admission, and children under 12 enter free. Trophies and prize bags are sponsored by Lucky’s Cornhole in Owensboro. Attendees can also enjoy a variety of refreshments at the “Concessions for a Cause” booth.

In addition to the tournament, the event will feature the Youngin’s Power Wheels Drag Race from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m., open to children ages 5 and under. Entry is $10 per racer, with a $5 suggested donation spectator fee. Racers bring their own ride and can register on-site the day of the event; no pre-registration is required.
