BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police Post 3, in Bowling Green, is warning the community about an ongoing scam. Scammers are contacting victims by phone and convincing them that they have fines that need to be paid.
Victims are being instructed to withdraw cash, take it to a bitcoin kiosk at 840 Morgantown Road, where they are advised to deposit the money into the machine and transfer the funds to the scammer using cryptocurrency. Once the funds are sent, it is difficult, if not impossible, to recover the funds.
If you get this call, hang up the phone immediately. Do not send any funds. Law enforcement officials will never request you to send money by any method during a legitimate investigation.
