LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Flood Watch for Ohio County and much of the area. The Flood Watch is set to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 8, and will expire at 1 a.m. Sunday, July 12.

According to the NWS, flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible from Thursday afternoon through late Saturday night.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy rain are expected late week through the weekend. Already wet soils in some areas will make flooding more susceptible, especially with each additional round of rainfall. Localized significant flooding may develop in areas that see several inches of rainfall.
