HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam going around that impersonates Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright.
The OCSO has been made aware of a scam call in which a male caller claims to be Sheriff Wright. The caller then requests payment for criminal charges.
According to Wright, this scam is very convincing as the scammer calls from what appears to be the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office telephone number.
This is a scam. No local, state, or federal law enforcement agency will call you requesting money. They will not ask you to wire money or purchase gift cards. Do not give out any personal or financial information via telephone.
