Scammers Target High School Graduates as the School Year Comes to a Close
Do you know a student who is graduating soon? Share this information with them so they are one step ahead of scammers! As graduates prepare to transition to college or the workforce, scammers are preying on excitement, urgency and financial pressure. Common schemes include:
- Fake scholarships and financial aid offers
- Housing application scams
- Nonexistent job and internship opportunities
- Fraudulent tuition or loan forgiveness

Credit Card Scams Targeting College Students
College students are juggling large financial obligations, and scammers know that a new credit card is hard to turn down. Scammers can use credit card offers to steal personal and banking information, access your real accounts and post unauthorized charges. Even if a credit card offer is legitimate, it may not be a good fit. Students should research all offers carefully, including the company, interest rate and associated rewards before applying for a new credit card.
