HARTFORD, Ky. — Thomas R. Mattos, 70, of Hartford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on Dec. 28, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Pearl Mienzer Mattos.

Thomas lived a life filled with adventure and passion. He cherished his time as an instrumentation technologist at a power plant in Florida, where he made lasting memories and friendships. Beyond his professional achievements, he was known for his love of the open road, often found riding his beloved Harley-Davidson or enjoying playful moments with his dogs. Thomas’s genuine spirit and laughter brought joy to all who knew him.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Jesse Mattos; two sisters, Gloria Maletta and Alberta Newcom; and three brothers, Jack, John, and Joe Mattos.

He is survived by his son, Thomas J. Mattos, and his wife, Shannon; his daughter, Natalie Stevens, and her husband, John; six beloved grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl Mattos, and his wife, Janice, and Rick Mattos, and his wife, Laura. His legacy of kindness and strength will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family will receive friends for a time of remembrance on Tuesday, March 17, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hartford Funeral Home. A celebration of Thomas’s life will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
