HARTFORD, Ky. — Ruby Dean (Addington) Evans, 89, of Hartford, passed away Feb. 22, 2026, at Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehab Center in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. She was born on June 12, 1936, in Centertown, Kentucky, to the late Earl James and Girtie Jackson Addington.

Ruby was a member of the Beaver Dam Church of Christ where she supported her husband Ray, as he served as an Elder for 40 years. Ray and Ruby were co-owners in Hartford Building & Supply where she was a part-time bookkeeper, and in the early years worked on job sites finishing woodwork.

She made a home for her family by gardening, preserving, cooking, and making clothes. She loved, and was talented at quilting, knitting, and embroidering. As the virtuous wife in Proverbs 31, “Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her.”

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Ray; her daughter Kathy Rhea Calvert; and brothers Carl Addington and Milton Addington.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Lydonna Faye Harris (Jimi) and Pamela Jo Renfrow (Terry); son-in-law, Randy Calvert; five grandchildren, Janae Calvert Mohon (Micah), Jarren Calvert Decker (Josh), Grant Winston Calvert (Courtney), Brandon Ray Harris (Kim), Krista Harris Padgett (Jared); and 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Survivors also include two brothers, Valkye (Alice) Addington and Alton (Elaine) Addington; three sisters, Elmeta Blankenship, Vonell (Bill) Kirk and Sheila (Mike) Loney; along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Mike Thomas presiding. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
