MT. CARMEL, Ill. — Sandra Louise Murfin, 70, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, in Mt. Carmel. She was born Sunday, Aug. 8, 1954, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Hugh Darrell Maddox and Margaret Butler Maddox.
Mrs. Murfin was a retired underground coal miner for Amex Coal.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Maddox.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 31 years, Gary Murfin, of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Ashlee Daugherty, of St. Francisville, Illinois; two stepsons, Jaycen (Amanda) Murfin, of Oakland City, Indiana, and Joseph (Jamie) Murfin, of Ft. Branch, Indiana; several step-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Casey, of Morgantown, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mrs. Murfin’s family from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
