HARTFORD, Ky. — Joseph Burl (J.B.) Eskridge, 89, of Hartford, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at The Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. J.B. was born Dec. 8, 1934, to the late E.C. and Ruth Combs Eskridge.

Growing up an only child, J.B. enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in all he did. He graduated from Dundee High School. After high school, J.B. enlisted in the military and was a paratrooper in the 101st airborne.

Upon discharge from the army, he returned to Ohio County, Kentucky, to begin his career on the farm which would continue until his passing. He soon met the love of his life, Doloris Mills and they married Aug. 8, 1959. They cherished nearly 65 years together prior to her passing in November of 2022.

J.B. enjoyed playing golf, spending countless hours with his family, and cherished 15 years retreating to the family’s winter home in The Villages, Florida.

Aside from his parents, J.B. is preceded in death by his wife, Doloris Mills Eskridge; a grandson, Brandon Ralph; and his dog, Kingston, known by all as “King”.

Those who are left to cherish and honor his memory are a daughter, Soretta (James Earl) Ralph; grandchildren, Mallory (Ryan) Duff, Chelsey Ralph (Jason Hall), and Melanie (Jeff) Hardesty; and a great-grandchild, Vivian.

Mr. Eskridge, Grandad, will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the best Grandad to Mallory and Chelsey, and we find comfort knowing he is reunited with our Meme.

Visitation will be held at Bevil Brothers Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, Kentucky, on June 8, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the memorial service following with Bro. Glenn Armstrong and Bro. John Cashion presiding.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
