OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mary Loretta Johnston, 90, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born October 18, 1933, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Albert and Anna Hinsey Goetz.

Mary retired from Kenway Chemical after 19 years, had worked at General Electric for 10 years, and at the Mount St. Joseph Infirmary.

She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Parish. Mary enjoyed making ceramics and quilting with friends at Immaculate. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank A. Johnston Sr., in 2017; a daughter, Rebecca Bowman, in 2021; two granddaughters, Victoria Johnston, in 2018, and Ashley Turner, in 2019; a sister, Barbara Lashbrook; and a brother, Herman Goetz.

Surviving are a daughter, Fran Limbach and husband, Keith, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; a son, Frank A. Johnston Jr. and wife, Amy, of Charlestown, Indiana; five grandchildren, Travis Johnston (Shabri), of Owensboro, Chloe Weaver (Danny), of Indianapolis, Indiana, Katie Hasson (Michael), of Highland Heights, Kentucky, Kelsey McCloskey (Josh), of Edgewood, Kentucky, and Jared Limbach, of Newport, Kentucky; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Marvin Goetz, of Owensboro, Mike Goetz (Sue), of St. Joseph, Kentucky, Eileen Fulkerson (Joe), of Hartford, Kentucky, Frances Gaddis, of Sorgho, Kentucky, Linda Powers, of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
