In Obituaries by Dustin Bratcher

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — We are heartbroken to announce the death of our father, Samuel Keown.

Samuel Keown, 96, went to his Heavenly home April 2, 2024. He was at home when he died. Samuel was born in Echols, Kentucky, to the late Homer and Edna Wilson Keown on Feb. 10, 1928.

Samuel retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years. He was a faithful long-standing member of Liberty Lighthouse Church of God in Hartford, Kentucky, for 28 years. He along with his wife served as Janitor at the church for 10-plus years. Samuel loved God and everyone knew that. He would often speak of God everywhere he went.

Samuel loved all sports but his favorite was to hunt and fish. He loved his family and enjoyed any time he was able to spend time with them. He loved his church family and would always enjoy going to church. He was always telling stories and always cracking jokes. A Piece of our heart is missing and we will greatly miss him.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel Keown Jr. and Danny Joe Keown; a brother, Bill Keown; and three sisters, Lorene Burden, Mable Robinson, and Anna-Mary Kenwright.
