OWENSBORO, Ky. — Vanetta N. Hicks, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. The Ohio County native was born Oct. 5, 1931, to the late Frank James and Bertie Neal James.

Vanetta grew up and attended school in Centertown, Kentucky. She married Joseph Frasure and had four children before his passing in 1978. Vanetta worked at G.E. for 12 years, at Kenco Plastics, and finally retired from Pinkerton Tobacco after 18 ½ years. She later married T.R. Hicks who died in 2013.

Vanetta enjoyed dancing with her husband at the VFW where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, shopping, and raising flowers. Vanetta was also a long-time member of Grace Pointe Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Vanetta also was preceded in death by all her children, Frankie Joe Frasure, Johnny Wayne Frasure, David Glenn Frasure, and Alisa Vollman; a grandson, Joseph Vollman; and a sister, Betty Sue Brigance.

Those left to cherish her memory include her five grandchildren, David Frasure (Jenni), Carrie Hurlburt, Frankie Frasure (Deneka), Jenny Frasure (Becky), and Dena Craig (Joey); daughter-in-law, Lori Frasure McIntyre; granddaughter-in-law, Katrina Nesmith; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Donita and Donnie Brigance; and special friend, Pam Neal (Frankie).

The funeral for Vanetta Hicks will be noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
