CROMWELL, Ky. — James T. “Jim” Johnson Sr., 79, of Cromwell, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at his residence. Jim was born on Saturday, Jan. 13, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the union of the late Robert and Loretta Guinn Johnson.

He was a United States Army Veteran, faithful member of East Fairview Baptist Church, and a retired truck driver for Young Manufacturing. Jim enjoyed John Deere tractors, making walking sticks with Bible verses on them, listening to gospel music, and serving the Lord.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Michelle Johnson; grandson, Nicholas White; and one brother, Bobby Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Nellie Wilkerson Johnson, of Cromwell; one daughter, Angela Daily (Thomas), of Owensboro, Kentucky; one son, Jamie Johnson (Pamela), of Hartford, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Dustin Daugherty (Jennifer), of Cromwell, Heather White (Dewayne), of Sacramento, Kentucky, and Tori Smith, of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lucas, Adalyn and Hayvin; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Douglas Johnson (Dora), of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Nancy Noel (Buddy), of Barbourille, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the East Fairview Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Carl Decker Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Saturday 10 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at the East Fairview Baptist Church.
