MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Marilyn Elaine “Auntie Bill” Phelps, 66, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on Friday, April 5, 1957, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the union of the late Erdest C. and Bessie Madean Moore Evans and wife of the late Billy Darrell Phelps.
Elaine worked many years for the Butler County Ambulance Service serving as EMT and Butler County dispatcher. She was one of the founding members of Butler County Child Abuse Prevention.
Elaine enjoyed cooking, camping, riding horses, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Runea Evans; and one step-grandson, Scotty D. House.
Marilyn Elaine “Auntie Bill” Phelps is survived by two sons, Billy Russell Phelps (Beverly) and Joshua Darrell Phelps, both of Morgantown; one stepdaughter, Sheila Neal (Hal), of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Isaac Daniel Phelps, Jayson Cole Phelps, Austin Hal Neal, and Victor Cole Neal, all of Morgantown; one great-granddaughter, Zaylee Ann Neal, of Morgantown; step-grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Jones, of Morgantown, John Jones, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bennie Ray Neal, of Morgantown, and Amanda L. Neal, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; four step-great-grandchildren, Ben Jones, of Morgantown, Xavier Jones, of Hartford, Kentucky, Caden Jones, of Hartford, and Johnathan Jones, of Iowa; two sisters, Sherri Bethann Mudd (Marion), of Caneyville, Kentucky, and Karen Evans (Anthony), of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Newton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Chapel.
