ROCKPORT, Ky. — Emma “Tootsie” Key passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at Ohio County Health Care. She was born in Echols on Dec. 26, 1931, the daughter of Earl and Mary McConnell Porter.
Tootsie was a homemaker, a member of the Rockport Community Fellowship Church, and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bingo and casinos and was a volunteer at the Ohio County Hospital gift shop for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Acie H. Key; sisters, Blanche Marguerite Dunn and Blackie (Lofton) Maddox; and brother, Raymond (Alice) McConnell.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Cleatus Marvin Dunn; nieces and nephews, Junella (Jack), Sheila McConnell, Vennetta (Jim), Dave (Darlene), James (Sue), John and Tammy Dunn, Richard and Steven Reed; many great-nieces and -nephews; friends, to many to mention; and special friends, Jackie Decker, and Bro. Recie Young. And a special thanks to the staff at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab for their great care.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Recie Young officiating. Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
