Redis L. ‘Chuck’ Sanders

HARTFORD, Ky. — Redis L. “Chuck” Sanders, 93, of Hartford, passed away quietly on Sept. 10, 2023, at the Ohio County Healthcare. He was born July 16, 1930, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Melvin Clayton and Clara Evelyn Fanning Sanders.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the last part of WWII. He eventually made his home in Indiana where he married Geneva Belle Shipley and became father to Patricia and Robert Wayne Martin.

Redis was a maintenance worker in several different factories.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Robert Wayne Martin; two brothers, Ray Sanders and Jim Sanders; and two sisters, Bonnie Shetters and Ruby Arrick.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Patricia Rearden, of Hartford; step-daughter-in-law, Susan Maxwell, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; three step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Weaver, of Ardmore, Alabama, JoAnn Bagwell, of Decatur, Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
