BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Lauren Elizabeth Marr, 27, of Bowling Green passed away on May 16 after injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Lauren was the daughter of Kyle and Sheila Gerkins of Bowling Green who survive. In addition to her parents, Lauren is survived by a beloved son Jackson Kyle Marr of Bowling Green, brother Benjamin Gerkins of Denton TX, lifelong best friend Bailey Robinson, Grandparents Ron and Shirley Bass of Beaver Dam, Grandmother Patsy Gerkins of Ekron, and Great Grandmother June Bass of Boonville IN. Also surviving is Jackson’s father Kyle Marr and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Lauren attended Western Kentucky University where she was a member of AOII sorority, serving one year as chapter president. She graduated in 2017 with a degree in Social Work and in 2021 with her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Lauren worked for the State of Kentucky in Child Protective Services for 7 years and truly loved her work. The number of lives she touched with love, dedication and care for children’s wellbeing may never be known.
But even beyond all of that Lauren loved her family. Jackson was the light of her life and she loved being his mama more than anything. It is our job as those who are left behind to always remind Jackson who his mama was and how very much she loved him.
And all of what made Lauren who she was was her love of the Lord. Lauren became a Christian at a very early age and had been an active member at Forest Park Baptist Church in Bowling Green for most of her life. Lauren’s contagious smile, kind spirit, and compassion for others came straight from her servant heart.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Bowling Green Gardens.
