GRDHD reports 894 new COVID-19 cases; 64 new cases, 2 deaths in Ohio County last month

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous month it had investigated 894 new COVID-19 infections; 503 in Daviess County, 35 in Hancock County, 156 in Henderson County, 35 in McLean County, 64 in Ohio County, 57 in Union County, and 44 in Webster County.

There were 10 COVID-19-related deaths reported in the previous month. The COVID-19-related deaths were six residents of Daviess County, one resident of Henderson County, one resident of McLean County, and two residents of Ohio County.

The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 31.9 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between Feb. 1-28, 2023.

The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as medium for Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, and McLean Counties and low for Henderson, Union, and Webster counties. GRDHD encourages all its residents to:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Get vaccinated for flu.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water.
  • If you are at risk for severe illness, talk with your doctor about wearing a mask.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Anyone with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.
