HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Hillard Johnson, 85, of Horse Branch, passed away on Jan. 15, 2023, under the care of Ohio County Hospice at his sons’ residence. He was born March 9, 1937, to the late Homer and Arziney Embry Johnson.
Hillard was a longtime farmer and dearly loved raising cattle, hunting, and fishing. He most loved listening to Bluegrass music and his grandbabies.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joan Albin Johnson, in 2007, and three brothers, Chelcie Johnson, Randall Johnson, and Thornton Johnson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Dennis (Kim) Johnson, of Horse Branch; one brother, Milford Johnson, of Horse Branch; four grandchildren, Corrie Porter, Monica ( Adam) Johnson, Lacey (Justin) Porter, and Stephen (Haley) Woomer and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 17, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Gerald Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery near Horse Branch. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
