HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Donald Ray Preston, 64, of Horse Branch, went to his heavenly home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1958, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, to Alice Ferguson Wells and the late Everett J. Preston.

Don retired from P&L Railroad and attended Horse Branch General Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing music with the Golden City Boys Band and 3:16 Band. He wanted his legacy to live through his music, knowing it touched someone’s heart.

Aside from his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Reeder.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife of 38 years, Sherry Gwen Tarrance Preston, of Horse Branch; mother, Alice Wells, of Owensboro, Kentucky; two daughters, Tonya Beth (David) Joyce, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Asha (Chris) Duncan, of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Abram David Joyce, Mason Lee Duncan, and Madelyn Gwen Duncan; one brother, Dennis Preston, of Philpot; one nephew, Preston Reeder; and two nieces, Jennifer (Ryan) Curtis and Angela (Mark) Ayers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Glendon Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Horse Branch General Baptist Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Don’s family from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
