Zachary ‘Zach’ Stephen Mattingly

HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Zachary “Zach” Stephen Mattingly, 35, of Horse Branch, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born Nov. 28, 1986, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Mark Mattingly and Starr Hafford Mattingly.

Zachary was the safety coordinator for Green River Distilling in Owensboro, Kentucky, a CPR instructor, and a member of the Rosine Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Rimby, going to Lindsey Stirling concerts, hockey, golf, hunting, collecting comic books with the Joker being his favorite and trains.

He loved his family, and his special smile and huge heart will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of seven years, Kim Bates Mattingly; Granny Grace and Grandpa Robert Wedding, and Grandpa Keith Finch.

Zachary leaves behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Starr and Mark Mattingly, of Leitchfield, Kentucky; grandparents, Mary and Joe Hafford, of Leitchfield; brothers, Austin Mattingly, of Owensboro, Caleb Mattingly, Chase Mattingly, and Tyler Mattingly, all of Leitchfield; sisters, MaryBeth Mattingly and Lydia (Travis) Duncan, all of Leitchfield; nephew, Jackson Smith; nieces, Riley Mattingly and Alice Willow Duncan; several great-aunts, -uncles, and cousins; and his dog, Rimby.

A celebration of life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky, with Dr. James Wedding officiating. Friends may visit with Zachary’s family from 3 p.m. until the time of that service at the church. William L. Danks Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
