OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous week it had investigated 366 new COVID-19 infections; 159 in Daviess County, nine in Hancock County, 77 in Henderson County, 22 in McLean County, 38 in Ohio County, 42 in Union County and 19 in Webster County.
There were four COVID-19 deaths reported the previous week. The reported deaths were three residents of Daviess County and one resident of Ohio County.
The Ohio County COVID-19 death is the first death reported since two Ohio County deaths were in the Aug. 30 report. Overall, 108 Ohio Countians have died due to COVID-19 complications.
The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 52 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between September 12 and September 18, 2022. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides information to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest COVID-19 data. COVID-19 Community Levels for every county can be found at cdc.gov.
Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.
The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as high for McLean County, medium for Daviess, Hancock, Ohio, and Union Counties, and low for Henderson and Webster Counties.

- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
- Wear a well-fitting mask in indoor public settings.
- If you are immunocompromised or at high risk for severe disease, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need or take other precautions. Those at high risk should consider avoiding non-essential indoor public activities.
- Follow CDC recommendations for isolation and quarantine, including getting tested if you are exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19.
- People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
