GRDHD reports 24 new COVID-19 cases, 1 COVID-19 death in Ohio County

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, June 7, 2022, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous week it had investigated 207 new COVID-19 infections; 86 in Daviess County, eight in Hancock County, 54 in Henderson County, 13 in McLean County, 24 in Ohio County, three in Union County and 19 in Webster County.

GRDHD reported three additional COVID-19 deaths. The COVID-19 deaths were two residents of Henderson County and a resident of Ohio County. Since the start of the pandemic, at least 104 Ohio Countians have died due to COVID-19-related complications.

The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 30 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between May 30-June 5, 2022.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as low for all GRDHD counties.

GRDHD encourages all its residents to:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
  • If you are immunocompromised or high risk for severe disease, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask or take other precautions.
  • Follow CDC recommendations for isolation and quarantine, including getting tested if you are exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
