Meet the Candidates: Adam Wright, Candidate for Ohio County Sheriff

In 2022 General Election, Meet the Candidates by OC Monitor Staff

Adam Wright, candidate for Ohio County sheriff.

My name is Adam Wright and I am running for Sheriff of Ohio County. I have called Ohio County home since the day I was born. Originally from Centertown, I currently live in Beaver Dam with my fiancé, Ally, and our dog, Maggie. I attend Beaver Dam Baptist Church and enjoy being outdoors and spending time with family.

I have spent most of my life proudly serving the people of Ohio County by working in public safety. I started as a volunteer firefighter and then went on to work as a 911 Dispatcher, Deputy Jailer, Sheriff’s Deputy, K-9 Handler, Police Officer, Police Chief, Kentucky State Trooper, and Detective.

I wholeheartedly believe that each position I have held and each agency I have worked for has prepared me for the title of Sheriff. Not only have I performed many different tasks and received a wide range of training, but working under different administrations has also provided me a unique opportunity to see different approaches and methods for running a department.

As sheriff of Ohio County, I will implement more proactive policing in our communities. I will seek to provide a broader range of police coverage across the county. I will place an emphasis on community-police relationships. I will focus heavily on child abuse and safety. And finally, I will work diligently to tackle our county’s growing drug problem by partnering with agencies such as Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and Kentucky State Police’s DE/SI Unit – for the entirety of my term.

I humbly ask for your vote in the Primary Election on May 17, 2022.
