McHENRY, Ky. — Shawn E. Simpson, 54, of McHenry, went to his heavenly home on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born Feb. 9, 1967, in Zannesville, Ohio, to the late James Simpson and Shannon Jerrells Tichenor.

He was the owner of K&S Automotive in McHenry. Shawn (#80) loved racing dirt track for over 33 years and had recently learned that he enjoyed watching the races as much as racing the car. He also loved riding his motorcycle no matter what the weather and his dogs, Cobra and Buddy. Shawn served in the National Guard for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Shawn leaves behind to treasure many memories including his wife, Kathy Simpson, of McHenry; three daughters, Brandi (Tim) Wood, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Magan Lindsey, of McHenry, and Monica Duncan, of McHenry; nine grandchildren, Keyan Frames, Kaylee Thomure, Tanner Wood, Jocee Wood, Ben Wood, Timothy Barnes, Carley Duncan, Cooper Duncan, and Lilly Duncan; one sister, Shanae Ramsey, of Beaver Dam; six nieces, Lelie Sargent, Jackie Boyken, Beth Gill, Samantha McFarland, Felicia Shephard, and Kendra Embry; three nephews, Chris Oslonian, Hunter Gill, and Andy Snodgrass; 11 great-nieces; 10 great-nephews and his racing family.

He will be missed very much by all.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at McHenry Baptist Church in McHenry, Kentucky with Rev. Brent Howard officiating. Friends may visit with Shawn’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, Saturday at the church. William L. Danks Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
