MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Veneda A. Burden, 82, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was born on Monday, June 27, 1938, in Butler County, Kentucky, to the union of the late Opal and Eva White Dockery.

Veneda and Frank attended Oak Ridge General Baptist Church and as a child, she attended the Milam school in Butler County, Kentucky. Veneda loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, listening to gospel music, and attending church when her health would allow.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by siblings, Helbert (Stella) Dockery, Albert Dockery, Neva (Huston) Pharris, Faye (J.W.) Sorrells, and Inis Swift, and brother-in-law, Clifford Fields.

Veneda A. Burden is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Burden, of Morgantown; two sons, Tim (Angela) Burden, of Bowling Green, and Joe (Gina), of Cross Plains, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Emily (Wes) Gentry, of Bowling Green, Mahkala and Ethan Burden, both of Bowling Green, Madison, McKenzie, and Chase Burden, all of Cross Plains; two great-grandchildren, Everly Pearl Gentry and Adaline Rain Gentry, both of Bowling Green; six siblings, Everett (Cora) Dockery, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Del (Glenda) Dockery, of Horse Branch, Kentucky, Curtis Dockery, Harlen (Callie) Dockery, and Carlton (Mary) Dockery, all of Morgantown, and Edith Fields, of Louisville, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Buddy Swift of Morgantown; sister-in-law, Margie Dockery, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Del Dockery officiating. Burial will be held in the Zion Harmony Cemetery where Bill Pharris, Danny Geary, Scotty Dockery, Brandon Dockery, Chase Burden, and Wes Gentry will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
