Barbara ‘Sissy’ Marie Bratcher Renfrow

HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — It is with immense sadness that the family of Barbara “Sissy” Marie Bratcher Renfrow, loving wife, mother, nana, family member, and friend, announce her passing on Nov. 15, 2020. Barbara was born on Nov. 20, 1951, to Vegie (Pierce) Bratcher and Henry Bratcher.

She was raised in Caneyville, KY where the met her husband of 51 years, W.L. Renfrow Sr., at the local skating rink. After their marriage on Nov. 26, 1969 the pair moved to Horse Branch and raised two children, Tracy Bivins (Bobby) and W.L. “Sonny” Renfrow Jr. Barbara was incredibly proud of her two grandchildren, Shelby Renfrow and Tiarra Sutton, and two step-grandchildren, Kelsey and John Curtis Bivins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her eight siblings, Imogene Hayse, Patsy Decker, Charlie Bratcher, Carlie Bratcher, and survived by Joe Bratcher (Gail), Roger Bratcher (Alma), Beatie VanMeter, Tommy Bratcher (Debbie), and many nieces and nephews.

You could find Barbara at the Rosine Barn Jamboree almost every Friday night sitting in the front row with her best friend, Jonelle Woolen.

More than the music she loved the company and was always socializing with someone no matter where she was. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Shelby and Tiarra, and telling everyone she met about them. Barbara spent a great deal of time sewing, playing Rummy, and collecting cookie jars.

Barbara was not a fan of flowers but loved the Rosine Barn.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Rev. Jason Bratcher officiating. Burial in Boyd Cemetery in Horse Branch. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. The family asks that anyone attending the service to dress casually.
