Two options to cast vote in Tuesday’s election

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. — The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted just about everything for the last several months, including how the people in Kentucky will vote in Tuesday’s 2020 Primary Election. At this time, there are two options to cast your vote.

In April, Gov. Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams came together to figure out how to have an election during a pandemic. Gov. Beshear later issued an executive order outlining the guidelines for the June 23 Primary Election. Ohio County Clerk Bess Ralph, along with the County Board of Elections, then took the Governor’s guidelines and to figure out how Ohio County would take part in the Primary Election.

In order to give citizens of Ohio County more options to vote, while also following the guidelines laid out by Gov. Beshear, the County Board of Elections put in place the following locations and options:

  • Vote in-person at the Clerk’s Office
    Vote in-person at the Clerk’s Office from June 1-June 22 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

  • Vote in-person on Election Day
Vote in-person from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. June 23 at the Ohio County High School. All precincts will vote at this location.

Earlier, voters had a chance to request an absentee ballot from the state or Ralph’s office, but there was a June 15, 2020, deadline to request the ballots.

For those who requested and received an absentee ballot, ballots must be postmarked by June 23, 2020.

If you’d like to check the status of your absentee ballot, you can visit this website https://vrsws.sos.ky.gov/VIC/. After filling out the required information you can check the status of your absentee ballot.

“We appreciate your kindness and understanding during these difficult times,” Ralph said. “We want to give every voter the opportunity to exercise their right to vote the way they choose, in a safe environment following the guidelines set by the Governor and Secretary of State.”

If you have any questions about the upcoming election, call the Clerk’s Office at 270-298-4422.

However you decide to vote, just vote. Make your voice heard.
