OC Sheriff looking for suspect in stolen vehicle investigation

HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help in locating a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation. The suspect wrecked the stolen vehicle and escaped into a wooded area on foot.

According to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty, around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, Ohio County Central Dispatch Center received a call of a single-vehicle wreck in the 6500 block of KY 54 W in Ohio County. The Sheriff’s Office, the Fordsville Area Constable, Kentucky State Police, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio County EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Responding units were told the vehicle involved in the wreck was confirmed as stolen from Owensboro. After the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed, he attempted to steal the truck of someone who stopped to check on the suspect in the wreck. The driver of the truck was able to stop the suspect from stealing his vehicle. The suspect then ran through a yard and into the woods.

After arriving, law enforcement searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.

With the help of the DCSO and OPD, the suspect was identified as Ethan Dixon Jones, of Owensboro.

The investigation is still ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
