Operation American Resolve flyover set for this afternoon

In Local, News by OC Monitor Staff

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. — Ohio County may want to keep their eyes to the skies this afternoon as the Kentucky National Guard will be participating in Operation American Resolve today. Operation American Resolve is a nationwide salute to those first responders, military and others who are putting themselves in danger to take part in the battle against COVID-19.

The Kentucky National Guard will fly two C-130 from Lousiville, to Frankfort, then to Pikeville, then to Bowling Green, then to Owensboro before flying back to Louisville.

Those of us in Ohio County will want to focus on the flying from Bowling Green to Owensboro. The C-130s are scheduled to fly over South Warren High School in Bowling Green at 3:49 p.m. this afternoon. After flying over the high school, the planes are then scheduled to fly over Owensboro Community and Technical College at 4:06 p.m.

One would think those planes would be flying over Ohio County between 3:49-4:06 p.m. OCTC is right at the end of U.S. 231 N as you head into Owensboro, so it’s reasonable to think those planes might just fly right along U.S. 231 N. It should be noted, these are approximate times and its possible the flyover could be a little early or a little late.

We recommend grabbing a chair, going outside around 3:45 p.m. and waiting for what could be an exciting sight for those of us who have been cooped up for a month due to COVID-19.
