Vera Daugherty

In Obituaries by OC Monitor Staff

ARNOLD, Ky. — Vera Daugherty, 86, of Arnold, took Jesus by the hand and gained her heavenly home on April 6, 2020, at her residence. She was born Aug. 9, 1933, in Baizetown, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth Daugherty and Bunah Baize Daugherty.

Vera was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Church in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and worked for GE, was the secretary at Horse Branch School and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s sawmill operation as well as their farm. She saw good in everything and everyone; loved the farm, her cattle, gardening, canning, and her flowers.

Vera loved her home of 67 years in Arnold where she called Paradise. Many would see her sitting on the porch enjoying life and if you stopped for a visit she always had a treat, a Little Debbie cake, cookies, or candy; always with a smile on her face.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Daugherty; six siblings; son-in-law, Charles Geary; and beloved dog, Hilow.

She leaves behind to treasure many memories, two children, Trica (Ronnie) Butler, of Arnold, and Rickey (Alicia) Daugherty, of Horse Branch, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Imogene Geary, of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Crystal Daugherty, Nathaniel (Lakayah) Daugherty, and LaTasha Daugherty; three great-grandchildren, Zakari, Chloe, and Charlie “Little Charlie”; brother, Joyce Daugherty, of Beaver Dam; and nieces, nephews, church family, and many cherished friends.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, private services will be held. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam has been entrusted with the arrangements.
