OCH reports no confirmed cases of COVID-19, 5 results pending

HARTFORD, Ky. — It’s been a difficult day in the Commonwealth as the state mourns the loss of seven Kentuckians to COVID-19 and experiences the largest increase of new cases at 114.

Ohio County still does not have any confirmed cases, but Ohio County Healthcare implores Ohio County to be vigilant. The virus is active and preventative precautions are still essential. Stay home, try to send just one person to purchase groceries when needed and wash your hands frequently.

If you need healthcare, OCH recommends:

  • Calling the 24/7 Hotline at 270-256-5535
  • If experiencing fever, coughing, and shortness of breath, visit the drive-thru screening center at the corner of Clay St. & McMurtry Ave.
  • Call your provider’s office to schedule a virtual visit during regular business hours. Virtual Visits are now available at all OCH locations. Ohio County Family Care in Hartford and Beaver Dam, Fordsville Area Medical Clinic, Butler County Family Care and Ohio County Specialty Care. All practices can register car-side to avoid time spent in waiting areas.

Today, four patients were seen at the OCH COVID-19 Screening Center. All four progressed to Phase 2 treatment by a provider, which included a respiratory panel, chest x-ray, and CBC. Out of those four, only one patient was tested for COVID-19.

To date, OCH has tested 15 patients with 10 confirmed negatives and five pending results. These testing numbers are only from OCH facilities. Other medical offices in Ohio County are also testing. All results, regardless of testing location, are required to be reported to the Kentucky Department of Public Health.

Earlier today, CeCe Robinson, OCH Community Relations Director, participated in a Facebook livestream about the coronavirus with Charlie Shields, Emergency Management Director, and David Johnston, Ohio County Judge-Executive.

Johnston plans on conducting these informational sessions twice a week on Tuesday and Friday on the Ohio County Fiscal Court Facebook page as an effort to help keep our community connected.

Johnston stated, “I encourage all of you to continue social distancing measures. Do not gather in groups. This time of difficulty will pass. We have to continue to be the strong community I know that we are.”
